Thank you for serving as an Application Reader for the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF)! Review and deliberation are essential components of the fellowship selection process and we appreciate your input on the applicants’ overall qualifications.
The AAAS S&T Policy Fellowships are opportunities for professional development and public service. The aim is to foster scientifically informed, evidence-based policy and practice by involving scientists and engineers from a broad range of disciplines, backgrounds and career stages, and to build leadership for a strong S&T enterprise that benefits all people.
Before reading and scoring applications, it is important that you review all the topics listed in the menu at the top of the page: Reader Instructions, Implicit Bias and Criteria & Scoring. If you have a conflict of interest with any applicants, please contact STPF staff immediately via the message center.
Scores are due Friday, December 5.
It is critical that your scores be submitted on time in order for us to remain on schedule for the review and selection process. An auto e-mail reminder will be sent to you weekly until all of your scores are submitted.
Review
When you click on the names of the applicants assigned to you for review (in the list at the end of this page) you will be taken to the applicant's full application, which includes educational information, a brief bio, candidate statement, summary of extracurricular activities, CV, and reference letters. You should use all of this information to inform your assessment and score of the applicant.
Please review each applicant's materials thoroughly and then provide your scores and comments in the grid and text box on the right-hand side of each application. You may save your reviews in progress and return to them to edit, revise, and submit (simply click on the name and the application will open). We recommend taking notes in a word document so that the application system does not time out when entering comments.
NOTE: You may find it easier to read the materials in the Print This Application pop-up screen (opened to your full screen view).
After you hit Save for final submission on the scoring page, you will see a summary of your ratings for the applicants you have scored on this home page under Scored Applications and Pending Finalization. You may revise your scores if needed by clicking on the name of the application. When you are satisfied with all scores, click the Finalize All Applications button and follow the prompts to submit your scores. Once scores and comments are finalized, they cannot be changed.
